Important Reminders

Any text added in the H5P Introduction text form field by content authors is part of the information announced by screen reading software.  However, H5P allows content authors to include content and formatting that screen reading software is not able to announce as part of the accessible label for the question.  H5P does not provide an option to include a separate question label (such as a correctly structured heading) or separate instructions for questions.

Use best practices for content authoring, including:

  • If more than one question is used on a page, add unique labels for questions on the page outside of the H5P content
  • Add instructions for questions on the page outside of the H5P content.

Also, provide instructions for users indicating that once an answer option is selected, the answer is submitted and cannot be changed.

Visible Indication of Focus

The activity buttons have a visible indication of focus.

Color Contrast

Except for the tooltip button, the visible indication of focus has good contrast.  When hovered with the mouse, the answer options do not have good color contrast, but the answer option text has good color contrast.

Keyboard Usability

The activity is usable with the keyboard.  To use the activity with the keyboard, users must navigate the answer options for questions with the Up and Down arrow keys before selecting an answer.  As soon as a radio button for an answer option is selected, the answer is submitted.

No Keyboard Traps

There are no keyboard traps.

Magnification

The activity supports both magnification up to 200% and reflow of content with magnification up to 400% without a loss of content or functionality and without requiring horizontal scrolling.

Usability with Screen Reading Software

The activity is usable with screen reading software.  Users of screen reading software must navigate the answer options for questions with Up and Down arrow keys before selecting an answer.  As soon as a radio button for an answer option is selected, the answer is submitted.  Screen reading software announces the results and the progress after each question is answered.
