Important Reminders
H5P does not provide an option to include a separate question label (such as a correctly structured heading) or separate instructions for questions. Content authors should review the specific usability level and content authoring requirements of an H5P activity before including that type of H5P activity in the interactive book activity.
Use workarounds and best practices for content authoring, including:
- Set each interaction to pause the video; begin each interaction with a heading level 2
- Add instructions for questions on the page outside of the H5P content
- Add alt-text descriptions up to 150 characters for meaningful images
- Use good color contrast for meaningful visual information in images
- Provide accurate closed captions that include all meaningful audio
- Either include descriptions of all meaningful visual information as part of the video narration or provide audio descriptions of all meaningful visual information.
Users who require good color contrast may require an alternative version of the activity.
Provide instructions for users of screen reading software describing that headings level 2 may be used to navigate back into open interactions.
Visible Indication of Focus
The activity buttons and interactive elements have a visible indication of focus.
Color Contrast
The quality of the color contrast depends on the H5P activities added to the interactive video activity. The visible indication of focus does not have good color contrast. Users who require a visible indication of focus with more contrast may use assistive technology. The color contrast of meaningful visual elements and text with backgrounds must be ensured manually by the content author. Users who require good color contrast may require an alternative version of the activity.
Keyboard Usability
The activity is usable with the keyboard. When the popup content is open, H5P does not keep the keyboard focus inside the popup content.
No Keyboard Traps
There are no keyboard traps.
Magnification
The usability of the interactive video activity with magnification up to 200% or up to 400% depends on the content added to the interactive video activity.
An alternative version of the content should be included that supports magnification up to 200% and up to 400% without requiring horizontal scrolling to view content and interact with content.
Usability with Screen Reading Software
The usability of the interactive video activity with screen reading software depends on the H5P activities added to the interactive video activity. Interactions should be set to pause the video so that users of screen reading software will have time to activate the interaction. When the interaction popup content is open, H5P does not keep the keyboard focus inside the popup content. The content of each interaction should begin with a heading level 2 and users of screen reading software should be provided with instructions describing that headings level 2 may be used to navigate back to the open interaction. H5P does not provide the option to pause the Summary at the end of the video. Instead of using the optional Summary, a separate Summary interaction should be created and set to pause the video.
