Important Reminders
There is no option to include a text transcript for the audio-only content. Include a separate text transcript of the meaningful audio information, including a description of meaningful sounds.
However, if the audio-only content is a media alternative for text, H5P does not include an option to clearly label it as such. If this is the case, include a text label, such as a programmatic heading, to clearly identify the audio-only content as a media alternative for text.
Additionally, there are no tooltips or text labels for the media player buttons. Provide instructions for users that identify the function of each media player button and the process to adjust the playback speed.
Visible Indication of Focus
The Full version of the media player has buttons with a visible indication of focus, but the playback speed settings do not have a visible indication of focus. The Minimalistic version of the media player has buttons with a visible indication of focus.
Color Contrast
The visible indication of focus does not have good contrast. The visible indication of focus is a thin black line for the buttons on the Full version of the media player. The visible indication of focus is a thin orange line for the buttons on the Minimalistic version of the media player. Users who require a visible indication of focus with more contrast may use assistive technology. The Transparent option of the media player buttons do not have good color contrast when hovered with the mouse.
Keyboard Usability
The activity is usable with the keyboard. The playback speed options are difficult to adjust using both the keyboard and the mouse. Content authors must not enable the autoplay option. Content authors must not use the Transparent option of the media player because the buttons are not visible with keyboard focus and the buttons do not have good color contrast when hovered with the mouse.
No Keyboard Traps
There are no keyboard traps.
Magnification
Content magnifies up to 200% using browser settings without loss of content or functionality. Content magnifies up to 400%, but some horizontal scrolling is required to view the entire Full version of the media player and interact with the controls. The content scrolls when navigated with the keyboard (Tab or Shift+Tab).
Usability with Screen Reading Software
The activity is usable with screen reading software. The process to adjust the playback speed is more consistent using screen reading software. Content authors must include the unique descriptive label for the audio-only content using the H5P Text override and translation options for Audio: Play audio, Pause audio, and Audio content.
