Important Reminders

Use workarounds and best practices for content authoring, including:

  • Add a door image with good color contrast
  • Hide door borders and frames (the options do not have good color contrast)
  • Use a background image that allows for good color contrast
  • Do not set audio or video content to auto-play.

Users who require magnification up to 400% may need to be provided with an alternative activity.

Visible Indication of Focus

The Calendar Door buttons, the Close Window button (inside the door), and the contents of the Windows have a visible indication of focus.

Color Contrast

The visible indication of focus has good contrast.  The visible indication of focus is a thin black line. Users who require a visible indication of focus with more contrast may use assistive technology.

Keyboard Usability

The activity is usable with the keyboard. To use the activity with the keyboard, inside the Window, from the Close Window button, users should move backwards (Shift + Tab) to cycle through the contents of the Window.

No Keyboard Traps

There are no keyboard traps.

Magnification

Content magnifies up to 200% using browser settings without loss of content or functionality.  The calendar content and video content inside the calendar doors does not magnify up to 400%.

An alternative version of the content should be included that supports magnification up to 400% without requiring horizontal scrolling to view content and interact with content.

Usability with Screen Reading Software

The activity is usable with screen reading software. Inside the Window, from the Close Window button, users should move backwards (Shift + Tab) to cycle through the focusable contents of the Window (links and buttons). Users of assistive technology should move the focus to the beginning of the Window contents, then read forward.
