Pathogen Portraits: Stories of Infection, Identity, and Impact
Instructor Overview
Pathogen Portraits is a student- and faculty-created collection of microbiology case studies that explore infectious diseases through the lenses of science, identity, and social context. Inspired by OpenStax Microbiology “Clinical Focus” scenarios and enriched with equity-focused perspectives, each interactive case invites learners to investigate real-world infections while considering how factors like culture, access, and environment shape health outcomes. Co-created by students from City College of San Francisco and the University of Dundee as part of the OSMA (OpenStax Microbiology Ancillaries) Project, this collection supports inclusive, active, and globally relevant microbiology education.
